A review of this round
on and off the track.

                     MODIFIED AND SUPER MODIFIED ..

The superior all terrain challenge round 2 kicked off
on the 9th june long weekend, accompanied by enough
crisp weather to snap freeze a cold one outside the esky.
First day of the challenge went off just as planned by
the sponsors and organizers of the event.
The event was thoroughly enjoyed by the competition
even though damage was incurred but minimal,
reminding everyone that the track will require
skill and dedication to navigate.Drivers arriving at
start gate with windows up and heater on it was that cold.

Shane (big red) opened his bag of tricks by reversing
through the final few corners on the track and across
the finish line which set the precident for
the remainder of the day among other competitors,
thus showing that intuitive driving can be a benefit in these events.
At the Rock Pit bar later that evening the Super Modified
vehicles returned to put on a show for the real fans
who braved the cold weather . The fire was raging in front
of the bar while the drivers raced. A great nights racing
was had by all.It was good to see the crowd, drivers,
navigators and officials socialising at the bar while
the band played on the permanent stage next to the bar.

DAY 2

Bunting is re-arrange early morning and teams start to walk
the tracks at 8am.
Day 2 unfortunately started with Chucky rolly on his first
track of the day within the tricky track 2.
Chucky and Simon have competed in every round for the past
3 seasons that the Superior track has been run. However he
remained determined to finish the day's events by returning
later on and confonting his demons , with some gentle
pursuasion of his navi Simon.

Macca in his purple patrol ute was too claimed on track 3
by acquainting the side of his ute with a protruding rock..
Brad and brad in the scout were as usual fast
(when therye not airbourne) great competitors and a crowd pleaser.

Day 3
Day 3 brought a whole new game plan for the contestants,
with all 3 tracks changed again and combined to make one
big course, they favoured the right foot to climb to the
top of the list...

All in all the competitiors had fun Mick and Dij in the
troopy had a few miss happs early on but won in the end.
Chucky and Simon 2 nd came back after thier roll over
in the 75 ute,Brain and Josh in the mq shorty are quietley
making thier presence known at this event coming 3 rd.

Nick and Chris in the 75 ute had a great weekend end
coming 4th and Ken and Hayley drove that truck like they
stole it onlt to have a front tyre let them down.
In super modified Ross and Daniel drove the cut down gu
like they where on a mission to win which they did.

Kieth and Evan in the bunderra were there once again making
it to the final to come 2nd Brad and Brad in the scout
always put on a top show loud and fast in at 3 rd.

Jeff and Will in the gq ute also strong competitors on the

          OUTLAW REPORT..

There was plenty of extreme “Outlaw” action experienced
over Round Two, of “Superior All Terrain Challenge” weekend.
Competitor numbers were up from last year despite the
 freezing temperatures.

New buggies, new drivers and spectators fronted to make
for a weekend of good driving and a fun experience for all involved.
On day one in “Outlaw”; we saw Michael “Tiny” Smart with
spotter; Matty push the Team MMF Hilux to it’s limits again
with roll over action, providing the crowd with a good
view of it’s underbelly in stage one.
Jamie Hughes debuted Cookie’s new buggy in the comp but a
drive shaft problems saw him out of the comp by Saturday afternoon.
Aaron and Lynda also debuted their new green buggy the
“Gecko”, with Lynda as the only female “Spotter”.
Damien McCotter & Spotter Tony Rolfe took out 2nd place
on the Final day in the New ’07 Yuri Buggy missing 1st place
by only a few seconds.
“I was leading coming into the finals, then a slippery rock
cost me a little time” he says.
This was only the second opportunity that Damien had to
spend time in the drivers’ seat of the new 2007 buggy
and he was happy with the results.
7th place went to Tina McCotter (Damien’s Wife) driving
the 2006 Yuri Buggy and the only female driver in Outlaw
class. She missed the top five placing by only 5 points
but did however take the trophy for “Top Female Driver”
over all classes for the weekend.
“I’m just starting to get a feel for the vehicle now,
more time in the seat and look out boys!” said Tina.
6th Place also went to the Yuri ’06 Buggy with Tony Rolfe
as the Driver and Damien McCotter as apprentice “Spotter”.
Sunday Finals - action time - and the top five were
fighting it out for the crown.
One Stage only seemed to be over in moments but still was
worth the viewing.
Mick Garner piloted Haultech’s U.S built Chevy buggy to
first place.
Damien and Tony 2nd in the spectacular ’07 Yuri Buggy.
Richard Nowlan drove the Mog Rover in his first competition
and placed third in an impressive display of natural
driving skill.
Rodney Owen placed forth and wowed the crowd with his metal
shearing throttle every day, a joy to watch but
unfortunately cost him the points and the $$$$$$!!!!

And fifth went to Rhett Bryant who smoked the “Cut Zook”
on tiny 35’s and 15 psi boost all weekend,
to then go home and deliver his new born son “Tristan”
6 hours later!!!!
Life will never be the same again!

We would like to thank all involved for the above report, which was
published in the QLD OFF ROAD 4X4 ACTION.

Below is letter we recieved  when we asked for some pics......

We would like to thank this young fella Heath for his
pictures of the event

i'm heath, i run a website called
www.moddedgu.piczo.com um i'm really into the competition and
weekend warrior stuff just like my dad. one day i plan on doing
events like superior because the event is well organised and has good
action and can be entered by not having to many mods.
my family and i try and go to the most events as we can
but sometimes something just gotta give. i try and do as much
photography at events as possible without going along the border
lines of getting into trouble i went to superior rnd 1 and rnd 2 i
liked some of the new idea's which had happened like the night runs. we
also like superior because it is held at a wonderfully park like landcruiser
park, and not to far to travel and becasue it's a very family and
dog friendly park.
